This is Hyundai's latest model, the ix20, a small MPV that's based on the Kia Venga - a car that's been a big hit with honestjohn.co.uk users.

The new ix20, which is longer and wider than the i20 supermini, will be shown formally at next month's Paris Motor Show, but we've had a sneak preview of the car ahead of its formal unveiling.

As buyers have come to expect from Hyundai, it should be a high value proposition. Prices have yet to be confirmed, but are expected to be in-line with the similar Kia Venga, which should meant that it starts at around £12,000 for the entry-level model. It'll share engines with the Venga too, which will includes 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel models. The cleanest model in the range will be the ix20 Blue, with emissions of just 114 g/km CO2 (qualifying for £35 per year VED road tax) and a claimed fuel consumption figure of 65mpg. The engines provide a spread of power from 77bhp to 125bhp.

One of the key factors that separates Hyundai's ix20 from the similar Kia Venga is that every car will have Hyundai's "Five Year Triple Care" package, which includes a five year/unlimited mileage warranty, five years roadside assistance and five years of vehicle health checks.

As with the Venga, the ix20 uses the latest active and passive safety technologies, such as ESP, ABS and Hillstart Assist Control to ensure maximum protection for its occupants. Hyundai anticipates this will become the first small MPV to attain the maximum five-star result under Euro NCAP's impact assessment program. The new ix20 is set to go on sale in the UK by the end of the year.
