Biggest PCP deposit contributions - June 2025

PCP is the most popular way to get behind the wheel of a new car. If you're looking to save big from the off, here's our pick of the biggest PCP deposit contribution deals around.

More and more buyers are turning to PCP, or Personal Contract Purchase, to get behind the wheel of their ideal new car. And carmakers and dealers are well aware of this trend, offering incentives like generous deposit contributions to encourage you to head to the dealership and part with your hard-earned cash.

With PCP you usually pay a deposit that's affordable, or use the trade-in value of your existing car to cover the initial amount required for your agreement.

However, if a deposit contribution is offered, this amount is added to your deposit or trade-in, and the combined amount is deducted from the value of the new car you're buying. This can save you cash upfront by meaning you might not need to pay such a large deposit, or any deposit at all. Or, if you have a chunky deposit and a decent deposit contribution, this should help lower your monthly payments over the course of your agreement, too.

Keeping on top of the latest, greatest PCP deals with the biggest deposit contributions can be a chore. This page lists the largest contributions we find online, updated regularly.

What is a PCP deposit contribution?

A PCP deposit contribution is an amount of money that the retailer may offer as an incentive to encourage you to take out a PCP agreement with them. A deposit contribution is added to your customer deposit to give a total deposit which is used to calculate your monthly payments.

For example, if you have £3000 available to put towards a new car, and there's a £2000 deposit contribution available, this £5000 total amount would be taken off the car's price, reducing your monthly payments accordingly.

Why are deposit contributions offered?

Deposit contributions are discount incentives aimed at getting you sign up for a PCP deal. They are often tied into sales targets, so if a model isn't selling so well, a large deposit contribution might be offered to encourage people to buy.

A car might also be heading for replacement, so old models have extra incentives to shift them from stock to make way for new versions. New technology may also play a role, with many carmakers offering enticing deals on electric vehicles to encourage buyers to make the switch.

What are the advantages of PCP deposit contributions?

If you're going to use PCP for your next car, a deposit contribution is generally beneficial. It helps to lower the amount of money you need to put down as a deposit, which means you keep hold of your savings to spend, save or invest as you wish.

A larger deposit contribution can also mean lower monthly payments, easing the financial strain during the PCP agreement. A large deposit contribution may also mean you can afford a higher-spec car without overstretching your finances, meaning you can drive a car with more luxuries for less.

Are there any disadvantages to PCP deposit contributions?

As with any PCP deal, it's important to understand how much your PCP payments will cost over the full term of the agreement. For example, if you have a decent deposit contribution but then a very high APR, you may end up paying a significant amount more than the deposit contribution was worth in finance fees.

An enticing deposit contribution might give a low monthly payment to get you into the dealership, but other factors influence this figure. Is the annual mileage allowance lower than 6000 miles? Is the PCP term longer than four years? Always be prepared for how you need to use the car, and budget accordingly.

Can I use the value of my old car as a deposit?

Yes, you can trade in your old car and use that as your deposit but it's always worth being prepared and ensuring you know what your car is worth before you go to the dealer. Say you see a new-car PCP deal with a £2000 deposit contribution and you need to pay a minimum of £5000 total deposit. You are offered a neat, convenient £3000 by the dealer for your old car taking you to the deposit required.

However, the dealer knows your car is worth £4000, and is then up £1000 when they sell your car on - money that you could have saved by selling your car in advance, or haggling with the dealer at the time.
