I recently received a recall for my 2006 Passat (2.0 Sel Tdi 170 5Dr DSG) . This was for Piezo Injectors.
As I felt by not taking my car in I may jeopardise my insurance I took it it to have the work done 2 weeks ago. When I took the car in everything was fine - barely a single problem after 88k miles - but when I picked it up 2 days later the car was having problems when changing gear at mid-revs in mid to lower gears - gearchanging was fine at higher speeds.
The car was making whirring sounds and then jolting occasionally into gear. Sometimes all was fine, but other times it was a real big jolt and clunking sound!
The VW garage has advised me that the car needs a new gearbox @ £3,000 !!!!
Naturally I am suspicious as the car was perfect when I took it in...
Can anyone advise if the problem may be linked to fuel management? Also, wouldn't the computer analysis be able to detect where the problem was?
I could believe that the gearbox was broken if happened all the time - but it doesn't!
(VW UK are also looking into the problem...)
