Golf TDI 1.9 '05 - Golf TDI ESP Problem - ravenx

There is an extremely long forum from some time ago regarding the problems many people had experience where the ESP light comes on and cannot be turned off. One of the entries made by HonestJohn himself is on the link below which claims to have found a cheaper alternative to using the main dealer £1500 solution. However, the post ends with "there is a cheaper alternative by:" and then doesn't say where the I can get the cheaper alternative from. Might be my browser but either way can someone tell me who I can get the fix from.? When I originally read it I think it was somewhere in Oldham.

Having read the various threads on this subject, I recall that the company mentioned was BBA-reman: http://www.bba-reman.com/uk/index.aspx

Others have said that they can either repair your existing unit or supply an exchange one, rather than taking the VW approach of replacing the whole thing.

Do you have any contact details for the "others" as this place doesn't actually do the work required to remove and refit and I need a complete service.

I haven't had this particular problem as i wouldn't own one the affected cars.

However i've had experience of getting 2 ECU's repaired, and believe me there are as many workshops out there that can fail to fix or even ruin your control unit as those who can do the job, a clever website does not always translate to a clever geezer fixing your parts...i could write a small book on this from my own experiences

Find someone to remove your unit for you and then send it away to BBA who are highly recommended, even my MB indy is impressed by BBA Reman, a man harder to impress you could not find.

I would not waste your time getting a reman unit.VW now do a repair programme new modulator for around £235.hth

I wouldn't bother with a £235 repair kit which simply replaces the sensor for a like-for-like brake pressure sensor. Get the unit overhauld by a specialist company that will upgrade the sensor to stop the fault coming back. Got mine done at £285.00 INCLUDING fitting labour and it came with a full lifetime warranty.

Call the guys up and see if they'll do the same for you 02079983792
