Volvo V40 Diesel. - M.M
Regarding a brand new one of these cars from a broker...

Is there just one diesel engine variant of this car? All the same 1.9 common rail diesel with about 115bhp?

Thanks.

As far as I know, the V/S40 diesel variant only comes in 1.9 litre. The phase 1 car (upto about 2000) certainly used the 1.9 Renault engine, not sure if this is still the case with more recent versions...they have similar specs but this could be retuning or a completely different engine.

Thanks Ian. Customer just popped over in a brand new V40 he picked up this week. The one he wanted was badged a TDi at the rear, his receipt said TDi but on getting this one home it is badged just as a D.

He was really worried he'd been lumbered with a non turbo.

Anyway I've checked the engine over and it has a turbo and Direct Injection is written over the plastic cam cover so I guess all is well.

One point....I am very used to looking at cars and from odd bits of alloy corrosion under the bonnet I would say it has been standing about for a long time for a supposedly new car....or perhaps that other ship only pretended to run onto the car container vessel while they winched up a few vehicles for draining and a quick resale.
