My current insurers , NIG , have declined to continue covering me , despite being with them since 2002 on the trot and no claims. This is to insure a US pick up that harms nobody and does 1000 miles a year. They are saying that they have ' withdrawn ' from the market in London.

Anybody got a current US vehicle insurer ?

NIG are under Royal Bank of Scotland along with the likes of Churchill, Direct Line and a few others. Perhaps one of them will give a reasonable quote. As they mightve 'moved' their US vehicle interests to one of their other brands.

Try a broker.

Ditto Broker. Google Adrian Flux perhaps?

I always thought that vans, pick ups etc came under the banner of commercial vehicle insurance. This is more expensive than domestic insurance for obvious reasons. Most companies will not touch commercial stuff with a barge pole, I had to use a broker when I had vans, trucks and pick ups and the choice was limited. Try a broker or the internet, but you may have to make a declaration that your pick up is not used for any business or commercial purposes. Good luck. Concrete

Well thats a good point because in the US, pickups are not considered cars. So do we consider them 'cars'?

maybe 'cause a car is a car and a pick up, (classed as a truck), is a pick up!
