Audi A4 B6 - audi indicator fault - waynesturbo

just bought a audi a4 1,8t. got it cheap due to a few faults. this one i cant seem to fix. the drivers front indicator light does not work. bulbs fine, as is the conector. vagcom says its a break in the live for said light but i cant find anything. to make things even more complicated, there is a permant 9.25v to light when no bulb fitted but as soon as you fit bulb then nothing, this is with out even the keys in. im guessing its the power supply module behind fuse box. any ideas?

Sounds as though it could be an earth fault try run a wire from the earth side of the light to known good earth point.

there is def no earth problem as side light uses same earth and works fine, also i can get light to work if i put 12v to red plug in foot well. anymore ideas?

What about the relay I am assuming that it is not can bus.

If the wiring loom has a damaged wire it may be you will have to run a new wire to the idicator from the relay.

If the wing repeater lamp is ok ,I would hook up the front lamp to this.If this solves the problem, then I would think there is a bad wire/connector somewhere.hth

The year would be very useful but this car uses an Onboard power supply control unit J519. This may be faulty. But I need the year to check. This is a solid sate controller and yes your will se a hold up voltage with the bulb removed. Regards Peter

The Cluster turn signal and the repeater signal are seperate feed from the Control Unit. Whetr the unit can drive both bulbs is unknown but I sustect it is risky to connect them up. BBA Re-man repairs these units. Check the car for accident damage on that corner as this can happen as a aresult of a prang with the indicator on and it gets shorted and pops J519.. Regards Peter

I suppose you could take a fused live feed via a relay to the indicator bulb then drive the coil from the repeater to grpound. Speak with BBA Reman and see what they will charge for just he one fault. I suggest you reseat all the connector on J519, there are a lot to ensure it is not a connector problem. Regards Peter

I assume you have checked all other functions and ALL fuses. The main power for J519 functions come from S236 30Amp. Regards Peter
