Ford Mondeo Mk II - Low brake pedal - mikeweathers

I changed the front brake pads, a job I have done successfully before. Now I find a very low brake pedal. It seems to recover on "pumping" but only temporarily. This was not present with the old pads. I have tried bleeding brakes but this makes no difference.

As I see it, nothing has changed except the pads, so why???????????

If its only happened since you changed the pads and you have'nt done anything else and the fluid level is OK, it probably does have something to do with the new pads. It could be that they are not a very good fit to the discs, in which case when you have done a few miles they should improve.

Did you undo the bleed nipples when you pressed the pistons back in the calipers. ?

The moral of this story appears to be "check, double check and check again".

One of the pads (yes , one of the ones that I installed) was not square in the housing. Realignment made all the difference. Back on the road again............................mw
