I am about to accept an offer fro my car from these people. They give you an indicative price via the web, come and see teh car and give you a final price then transfer the money to your bank account, then once you have "checked" that it is there they come and take your car ( a few hours later) . I appreciate teh price I'm getting isn't top dollar but does anyone have any feedback on them.
Obviously my main worry is the money dissppearintg bavk out of my bank account and being left with no car or cash!

Can't speak for this particular company but I (and colleagues) often pick up cars for a similar "web car buyer" (no names, no pack drill!). As you describe, you will give details to the company and will then be visited by a driver who will also appraise your car. He will then ring the company, check details you have given against what he sees with them - ie that details on V5 correspond (name, address, previous owners etc) condition of car (dings, dents, scratches,) interior condition, tyres, mileage, service history, bookpack, locknut for alloys etc. As long as you have been honest in your original description, money will then be transferred and you can check with your bank (on internet, by phone, at ATM etc) that money has gone into your account by CHAPS(?).
When it has, driver will take car and deliver to the "web buyer". I have probably done about 30 in last year or so and we have about 70 drivers working who have done similar numbers and I have only had one car where the price was reduced from original quote (because all four alloys had been kerbed and seller had not declared this) - price was reduced by £200 I think. I only know of one car that the company turned down and that was because the seller had been very dishonest in his description - it was a shed (couldn't even be started to check warning lights etc!) but described as "as new" and he refused to take a revaluation.
As far as I know, once money is transferred by CHAPS it cannot be taken back by the buyer.
One thing you might want to know is that some "building societies " will say that the money will not show in your account until 5pm the following day which causes problems - you have a driver there ready to take car away but you (quite rightly) will not release car until money is in your account.
Get round this by specifying a "proper" bank account for money to be paid into - HSBC, Barclays, HBOS, RBS, Natwest, Lloyds etc.
Money usually goes into your account within 15 or 20 minutes - as long as it is transferred before 3.30 pm.
Hope this helps

PS - I rather suspect (but have no proof because I never know the price paid) that the buying company is quite forgiving of minor discrepancies in description by the owner compared to the delivery driver's appraisal (ie there may be a few more chips or maybe the odd repairable scratch that the owner has "omitted") because you do not get top dollar - but I suppose that the ease and convenience of selling via these companies may make up for this.

I received an offer of £1,000 more from an Audi dealer than I did these people.
Take a look at some other options, some might surprise.

As a P/X or for an outright purchase??

I sold my 57 plate Honda Civic 1.8 Sport last week using one of these web car buyers, bestcarbuyer they were called. They gave me an initial valuation a few 100 below other web buyers but then followed that up with an email asking a few more questions and requested I ring them to see if they could give me a beyyer price. I did just that and after a bit of negotiation they upped their offer from 9000 to 9500. Eventually we settled on 9900 !
Similar cars to mine were being advertised at main dealers for 11000, so I was delighted to get virtually 10K with no hassle and no advertising costs, not to mention that it needed two new tyres and the tax was up.
The driver who collected it was from a professional driving firm and had been hired by the firm to collect my car and drive it to them in Hull. He verified the cars condition was as described (it was) and commented how clean it was, 10 minutes later the money was in my bank account and he drove it away. I was very impressed and would definitely consider this method of selling again.

That all sounds very, very familiar Keasden!!
Glad you were impressed - wonder who the driver was (it wasn't me!) Did you notice his number (at top of yellow sheet you got)??
