The insurance company have finally sent the cheque for my written off Pug, now I am wondering what happens with the V5 etc (if anything), there has been nothing in any letter from them about sending anything off, I havent a clue.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Total loss payment for your vehicle
If your insurance company decides to write off your vehicle, you must hand over the vehicle to them in return for a total loss payment. You?ll need to:
complete the V5C/3 ?Notification of sale or transfer? section of your registration certificate and send it to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BD
give the remainder of the registration certificate to the insurance company
Your insurer may ask you for the whole registration certificate, which they?ll complete for you and send to DVLA.
Write to DVLA if this happens, to be sure your name is removed from the record. Give the date you passed the vehicle to the insurance company and details of their name and address and send it to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BR.

Ah, its written off but is damaged repairable, if you see what I mean, just seems strange that they havent asked me to do anything. Maybe I should email them.
Thanks for the help.

I can only speak from my own experiance with Tesco's. I wrote the car off (total loss) and when I called them to ask the same, they told me 'don't worry Mr Benjurs, we'll do all this online'
Fine I thought until I received a £80 fine from the DVLA for not renewing my tax about 4 months later.....Grrrr. But when I wrote back to the DVLA on their form, they duly cancelled the fine.
So I guess there is an online system that must work but if I'm ever in the situation I think I'd fill in all the forms mentioned by the previous poster so at least you have paper trail.
I'd hate to think what would have happened if the DVLA hadn't rolled over as I'm sure I'd been in the doo doo and fined for not actually having any proof of this.
Hope this helps.

OK cheers for that, I've emailed the claim handler, if she doesnt get back to me within the week I'll fill in the forms stating its the property of the insurance company, I have already Sorned it as I was sent the tax disc by the recovery garage to get a refund, only a tenner but it all adds up.
Heres hoping she gets back to me with some info, you'd have thought they would want the docs, spare key, service history etc, surely it would increase the value of the car when it is sold on?

Never heard from the insurance company so just sent the form off and got a confirmation saying that its no longer in my name.
Must be too much hassle for the insurance lot but anyway their loss.
Cheers
