Has anyone else got rust eating away at their doors , I reckon it is the alloy strips that cause it , as water fills the gap , audi won`t fix it so if anyone has an allroad check for rust bubbles above the alloy then go and have a good cry because your paint warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. You are not covered for external influence ie weather rain etc , this applies to the anti perforation cover too , so you are looking at about a grand per door , should have kept the range rover!

if it happened to me i would send a letter to head office and see what happens. maybe rac if you are a member will help.

I thought Audis were made from aluminium these days.

I wouldn't accept this on any four year old car, much less a supposed "quality" one.
Write to Audi HQ giving them an opportunity to resolve the issue to your satisfaction, and if they give you the brush off, kick up as big a stink as you can in the motoring press. I recall What Car used to have an excellent "Watchdog" type service which often yielded good results from car companies who prior to the magazine's involvement, were 'not in a position to help'.
For comparison purposes, a friend had a complete replacement tailgate painted and fitted FOC to his (then) ten year old Mercedes C200 estate a few years back. He spotted the bubble when washing the car, and he took it down to the dealer purely to enquire about the cost of repair. The service manager had a look, scribbled some notes down, and went into his office for 10 minutes. When he came out, he'd authorised a warranty repair with Mercedes and offered my friend a choice of dates to bring the car in. No hassle, no argument. "It shouldn't happen, sir."
I guess it comes down to how much pride a manufacturer takes in their products.
Cheers

I think that is just the A8 and possibly R8

My 'galvanised', family owned from new and never been in an accident Audi A4 is rusting as well and have had very much the same response back from Audi UK customer services - they are not at all interested. In fact they are the most arrogant incopetent people I have had to deal with.
Their excuse is that stone chips are causing the front wheel arches to rot - not acceptable on a 5 year old car with a full Audi history and a 12 year corrosion warranty! They dont however have an explanation for the rust bubbles behind the orginal dealer fitted numberplate.
Interstingly they were able to diagnose this issue from a few photo's taken by the dealer - who are also useless. No inspection has been done, despite me explaining that there are parts of the wheel arch lip at the top with little paint on it. I expect it is a manufacturing defect that they are trying to pass off.
As I have another 6 years to run now (this saga has been going on for a year) and there are tiny bubbles coming through the wing where there are no stone chips, I am going to wait until the perforation warranty covers two new wings.
I wish I could give you some positive news on trying to get your rejected warranty claim overturned, but despite 5 trips to the dealer, several phonecalls and recorded letters to Audi UK I have now accepted defeat for the time being.

It should not rust. Our A4 was 12 years old when when sold it and there was not a spot of rust anywhere. It had the usual stone chips here and there but the protection had done its job. They must be cutting the quality control somewhere.

You are right the older ones are fine it seems they are now using water based paint to save the ozone but it falls off just two or three years down the road ,so do yourself a favour don`t buy another one because it will not last like your old one .I bought this audi after seeing dozens of 10,15 20year old minted audies on the road , they are now as bad as LANCIA were before they stopped importing them due to rust.

I always thought wrongly it appears that all Audis now had alu bodies if they have steel why not just buy the VW version and save a bucket load of money to spend having the rust treated.

Rust depends to an extent on how/where the car is stored. My car (admittedly not an A4) is kept in a heated and dehumidified garage and after 6 years it still has little or no rust. Considering that I live only about half a mile from the sea I'm really pleased wiith the effect of my storage arrangements.

perhaps Audi think that their buyers must be able to replace a car before it rusts, after all they pay way over the odds for a vehicle that does very little over what a Ford or Vauxhall can do for much less.
BTW Ford replaced a whole rear quarter on my ( 3 door) Escort at 5.5 years under perforation warranty, so please don't knock the companies that mere mortals have to purchase.
