Ian Edwards[1] has a problem in that his garden fence keeps on being destroyed by people having "accidents" - reported in "The Daily Telegraph" at:

I know of a section of railings near a roundabout that are regularly bent - and a wall which used to be crashed into often, but which has been make about 3' thick, and contains all sorts of ironwork and concrete (front garden wall on outside of bend).

Do you know of any sites like these?

[1] Mr. Edwards "says his insurance firm has now refused to pay out for more" - I wonder why he's bothering them.

I'd be tempted to re-build using concrete blocks (visibly) might work to focus the minds of drivers.

I don't understand why he doesn't reinforce it with something!

Near me, there's a sharp bend by the Exceat Visitors Centre on A259 and there were several accidents where people misjudged the corner and partly demolished the flint wall to a building.

Their solution? Sink what looks like two thick tree trunks in the ground in front of the problem wall.

It probably won't make any difference.

Summit of Gulthwaite Hill near Rotherham. Steep hill with overtaking lane followed by a short straight then a right hand bend. Nothing too different from lots of roads, except the road is (was) NSL and the bend tightens. Many drivers have used the overtaking lane, probably exceeded the limit to get back in lane before it ends, have too much speed for the bend then lose it.

On the left hand side is a very substantial stone wall which gets rebuilt about once a year.

The road now has a 50mph limit and more warning signs, but I still expect the accidents to happen.
