Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 1996 1.25 Location of diagnostic socket

1996 1.25 Location of diagnostic socket - Roland T
A friend has just bought a fault code reader and offered me a lunchtime diagnosis (nothing known to be wrong, I'm just interested what's on there)!
Does anyone know where the diagnostic socket is on this model?
I also have a 2000 1.25 Fiesta, and guess that it might be in the same location, as many things are similar on the two cars.

In the passenger footwell side panel is a plastic rectangular cover.Flip out with a small screwdriver to access the 16 pin Obd socket.hth

looking at autodata they list a data link connector which i assume would be the diagnostic socket, it's behind the left hand kick panel in the car. on the 2000 model it's listed as behind the passenger side kick panel, so likely the same place depending on how ford label left and right (ie. from front view of car or from drivers seat.)

Ford(and most manufacturers)label from driver's seat.It's only N/S and O/S that change with LHD/RHD.
