Please explain the trims:authen, dynam, privilege! - stevem999
I'm looking at Grand Scenics and can see that they have a number of trim levels (Authentique, Dynamique etc etc) but from the prices on used cars I can't quite work out their order. Can anyone assist with a list of the trim levels in order of equipment etc please?

Many thanks

IIRC Renault trim levels run Authentique (basic), Expression (bare essentials), Dynamique (psuedo sporty) and Privilege (top of the range). This hierarchy may well be muddied by 'Special Editions'; I'm sure there was an Oasis, but have no idea where it fitted...I'd guess Authentique plus?

Sorry, in terms of trim I'd guess:

Authentique: Nothing except perhaps central locking? Black door handles (!)
Expression: A/C, electric windows/mirrors? Body colour door handles (!)
Dynamique: Alloys, electric mirrors, front fog lights? Silver door handles (!)
Privilege: Climate control, part leather, hands free key card, silver door handles

I'm sure there's more, but this is all from memory; we had a Megane Hatch a few years ago followed by a CC and I expect the Scenic follows a similar hierarchy...

Although the Privilege is top of the range, in my book that is more fancy expensive Renault electrics to go wrong, I`m thinking keyless entry, panoramic sunroofs climate control etc. Also the half leather trim has a poor reputation for quality and poor stitching. The poverty spec could be the better option in a Renault!

Whilst there's undoubtedly an element of truth in that, both of ours were Privilege spec and suffered no electrical problems at all. The batteries in the hands free cards gave up after 2 years or so, but I'd hardly call that a fault...

The hatch suffered terminally from being clouted by a Volvo though ;-)
