modern cars...hose clip question /tool? - steveo3002

ive noticed on several modern cars , for example on the airbox trunking that they have a wierd metal band clamp

id like to ask how on earth are you supposed to re attach these clips , they are like a hook and clasp arrangement , but its near impossible to crimp it and attach the hook piece

im assuming theres a tool for this job

( also how do i post a general car question without having to make up a car make/model?)

Not seen the sticky post then?

www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=62143

"If your question is general rather than specifically about make/model, year/engine, then fill in the boxes anyway, BUT indicate in the subject line that it is a general question by entering "General Question" (along with the question you want to ask) and a moderator will edit the post shortly afterwards to remove make/model, & year/engine details."

Personally I hold the clip open with a cable tie until it's back in position then snip the tie.

Yes; there's a tool. Many tools - in fact.

Search fleabay for "Hose clip tool" there will be a variety of cheap [£25] ones on there. [And the cable type will break the second time that you use it....]

I prefer Oetiker pliers for those.
