I have been refused cover for the above vehicle, 1998 with 1.9 litre engine, 5000 miles per annum. The car is group 14 and I am 19 with 2 years no claims. Current vehicle a 2004 Fiesta 1.25 (group 3) but as I am away at University most of the time I have decided I would like to return to something fun, a two seater roadster. At the moment I am limited in choice to 1.6 litre MX-5 (circa 2000), which will be about £300 a year over the Fiesta, which is fine. Any ideas on how I might get cover on the BMW?

The MX5 is a better car anyway - the 1.9 litre Z3 is fairly nasty.

I agree with that comment, with BMWs I think they're pretty pointless without the power - I rekon 6 cylinders is the way. They have a firm ride & the 1.9 has not enough power to have fun. To make things worse the Z3 (all but Z3M) have suspension based not on the E36 but the E30, which is now 3 models old. My friend had one of these and it was a truely horrible little car. OK for a girl though I suppose. I'd rather drive an MR2 mk3
