Just had a call from the Renault dealer - Renault UK have agreed to a 100% goodwill contribution to the window regulator that failed on the Scenic around Christmas (3 months out of manufacturers warranty). The dealer wants the car in 2 weeks to fit it.
I have to say that Renault customer services have been brilliant. One guy assigned to the case from the beginning, always rang when agreed, and the outcome was exactly as I wanted. Didn't have to argue for it at all. It's taken a few months, but we got there.
Of course, you could argue that it shouldn't have failed in the first place, but the other side of the coin is that they weren't obliged to do anything at all. Covering the full cost is more than I expected.

In 2002 Renault UK agreed to replace FOC the rear springs which broke on our the 4yr Clio, and that was in the days of 1 yr warranty.
The dealer said a flat "no". I called Renault UK and said my expectation was that springs would last longer than 4yrs (and 20K miles of very light use) and very gently suggested that maybe they should recall all Clio's to have their springs checked. 15mins later the dealer called me and asked when I'd like to bring the car in.
It struck me that it must be a common issue as the dealer had mentioned they had 9 (I would have hoped for an even number, but never mind) of springs on stock, yet they never had anything else I'd wanted in stock.
I was particularly anxious as I'd paid £600 for an extra 4yrs warranty, which was to be refunded if not used. So I would have faced a real dilemma in deciding whether to pay for the repair or to claim it. In the event we didn't use the warranty and it was refunded after 5yrs.

Nice to see a bit of interest from Renault! All I got from them was the usual rubbish about how they valued their customers, but wouldn't do anything to get the local dealer to fix an ongoing fault.
Luck of the draw to who you speak to as customer services perhaps?

Good! That's two satisfied customers; only 999,998 to go!

I can only comment on my experience, but I am more than impressed.
If I may say so myself, I was proud of my complaint too. ;-) Kept it positive, friendly and polite, never used words like "angry" or "disgusted", but plenty of "disappointed"s and a lot about how such a silly fault has soured an otherwise very happy ownership experience.
Which is the truth - we're delighted with the car in most respects. Apart from an £8 glowplug failing (hey, it's a 50,000 mile diesel), and this, it's been a typically abused family hack for a year and 15,000 miles, and has never even looked like letting us down.
It also helps that our dealer is very helpful and backed us all the way.

I had a couple of regulators go on my 2004 scenic. As I recall this was a recall repair anyway and should have been picked up earlier during routine service check. The dealer would have claimed from Renault Uk so it was hardly a goodwil gesture. On the model itself, yes it does have good design features let down by poor build quality - never again!

Yes my Wifes 54 plate Scenic also had the side window fail about 4 months after the 3 year warantee finished. Renault paid 100% which was good although they know its a very common problem with Scenics.

Also a problem on the Meganes, not surprisingly, according to a work colleague who had to replace 2 sets. 'French' and 'electrics/onics' seem to be a contradiction in terms. FiL had to replace 2 dashboards on his Laguna and the third one is now misbehaving.
