Can anyone beat this?

Just rang the dealer to get prices of a set of wipers for my Japanese MPV as they are different lengths either side and I thought that it might be easier/cheaper than going to a motoring shop.

Price inclusive of VAT = £49.80

Yup - Renault dealer wanted £59 for the Scenic's last year, although that included the rear too. Mahoosive great things with no metal frame on them. Aero something...

Bought a pair of fronts on-line from wiperblades.co.uk for £42 delivered. Same make (Valeo) as Renault fit as well.

If your Japanese MPV is anything like my French one, you won't be able to buy them in factors either. This remains the only thing that my local factor has ever told me they don't do. "Dealer only" is the official line.

Cheers

I went to a factor the other day and had the rubber blades only, replaced on my 307 wipers for £6. They are big blades too, a 24" and a 26" I think. No point in replacing all the metal when it is the rubber that is the problem. Aldi or Lidl do blades, on special offer at £1.49 each. Even if they are rubbish they are cheap enough to replace if they don't last very long.

The ones on the Altea are something like £42 plus VAT !! yet it is quite easy to go to GSF and buy standard Valeo's or Champion's for less than a fiver the pair just shows how standard doesn't make the car makers money where as bespoke is the same word = as Profit for life.

The Aldi ones make a vile noise when used, so I don't care how cheap they are.

Can I suggest that if your wipers are on their way out and replacements are pricey you spend a few £ on a bottle of RainX before parting with your cash.

Treat the windscreen and rear screen and you may find that your old wipers work like new, fewer squeaks, smears etc and the RainX effect means you can lower the wiper rate.

Did this last week on my Altea which was due wipers all round, dug the RainX out of the motorcycle box in the back of the garage (great on visors too) and did all the glass.

I'd forgotten what an amazing product this is, drove home on the M62 last night, lashing rain and spray, didn't even have the wipers turned on.

The effect is a little odd a first, rains runs up the screen in little drops much like the Millenium Falcon light speed jump effect on stars.

You get used to it quickly and drive along being amazed how good it is.

There's a £1.50 off voucher at the link below and a YouTube vid.

And no I don't work for the company.

I want to try the proper bottled RainX myself, I have heard it works well as you say.

But... I once bought some of the RainX Wipes and while they worked great on the side glass and mirrors the result was awful on the windscreen. It made the wipers judder badly across the screen, and I had to try and clean the stuff off it was so annoying.

I dont know whether I got a bad batch of wipes, but I would not buy them again. I do want to try the proper liquid stuff, in fact I will use that voucher to get some..

When I tried rainX on the windcreen it was awful, it made the wipers skip and left a sort of steamy effect on the wiped sweep (billions of miniscule beads of water)
