Buying a replacement Renault Key - Barnaby Aldrick
I've just bought a Clio that came with only the spare key. I hear Renault keys have a built in immobiliser transponder. I want to buy a new master key (that controls the immobiliser as well as the central locking) but I hear official Renault keys cost around £130.

Are there cheaper places to buy these?

Not that I've been able to find.
Our Clio gets a 2nd key later this month, when it goes in for its first MoT.
We have to order the key beforehand (10 days earlier?), in person with the V5 and picture Id, and then the key will be available for programming at the same time as the MoT.

I heard that was the procedure. Where did you get the key from beforehand? Or did the garage order it?

I was quoted £135 today!

I haven't got the key yet - I'll be going to the dealer tomorrow, with the necessary documents to order the key; the MoT is at the end of the month.

I will have to pay as SWMBO has decided that I lost the previous 2nd key :-)
