I'm not going to name the garage for fear of being told off but has anyone here used the vw specialist in cannock on Conduit Road. Are they Honest garage and do the work better than a main dealer (though that won't be hard)

If you mean Midland VW on Conduit Road at Norton Canes in Cannock then yes I can thoroughly recommend them and they clearly know their stuff. To put it in perspective they are 80 miles from where I live and I have 2 main VW dealers and other VW independents within 10 miles of me but I now choose to go to Cannock to get my VW looked after.
I started using them about 2 years ago for servicing and repair work on my TDI PD Passat and have been very pleased with the work they have done and the advice they have given me. They seem to have all the diagnostic kit and I think there a rolling road out the back.
Their prices are very reasonable; I got an ?everything changed, wheels off? major service including the pollen filter and a brake fluid change for £185 all in just a couple of weeks ago.
They have a website which shows their location as it?s a little off the beaten track and even better there is now a greasy spoon café a couple of doors down where you can go and sit whilst the service is carried out. There is a waiting room at Midland VW but is a bit cold in there this time of year.

It was Midland VW i was referring to. I had seen on another forum that people were generally happy with them but wanted to ask the question on here. Going over to them (18 miles from me) on Monday for a oil change as the dealer i brought it from has not put the proper oil in it when they changed it. They've quoted me £60 for the oil and filter to be changed and that for longlife oil.

That's inevitably an unjustly biased view. The minority who are dissatisfied take great delight in broadcasting their complaints, but the majority who are satisfied just don't feel the need to broadcast their satisfaction.

That's very true of virtually any type of product.
Quite a few of the independent garages in my area enjoy excellent reputations and deservedly so; the make and model of vehicle involved doesn't seem to matter in the case of bread and butter cars.

GM...I am very interested to note your location...not very far from mine (depending whether that 18 miles is N S E or West !)
For reasons which I am sure you will appreciate, please would you recommend to me a good Honda main dealer known personally to you.

I'm based in Quinton OAP. There is a VW indy in Blackheath but i found him to be pricey and not very helpful.
There is a Honda dealer at the bottom of Mucklows Hill on the main road to Old Hill (if you know the area) I have never owned a Honda so cannot comment on how good they are.

Have used Midland VW for about 6 services now, won't go anywhere else to have my Passat TDi looked after. Honest people, honest prices and good solid advice. Highly recommended.....oh the cafe a couple of doors down does a stonking bacon sarnie!!
No personal connection, just a very satisfied customer.
