The night before last a car crashed through our hedge and caused a bit of damage and then the swines legged it. I have recovered some 'bits' and I wondered if the more canny members of this forum just may assist in identification. I have posted links, but you may glean that I struggled with this bit. I hope it works. I think I have an idea on the car, but i'll let you go first.

Wow...hadn't even finished editing....I was thinking of you as I did so, you're telepathic !

A.E. You are a star. I had plumped for Renault, cos of the colour as we had a 19 a while ago. Thanks for that, most grateful. Now to finding the swine and mildly worry him. I can't actually believe the carp that they left behind. Takeaway bags, bottles etc. and even a pint glass!! I was asleep and her behind the doors looked on as they ranted and shouted and presumably got a mate to tow them out. She didn't call the bib and she didn't wake me. Just as well cos I probably would have lost the plot big time and we all know who gets nailed then.
Thanks again and hopefully I'll let you know.
Very best regards..........Martin

I hope you looked after the pint glass carefully, go talk nicely to the local police - probably got someone's fingerprints all over it ...
|
I can't believe they'll bother. They don't for much else. Anyway I guess that without an eye witness they'll do nought, as they say in these parts.

Calling the file names "Renault crash" was quite a big clue!

Don't take the Michael old chap! I said I thought I knew, but only from the colour. Have a nice day N.

9 minutes (including some time in the cupboard under the BR stairs) from posting to answer - is that a record ?

Having hauled juniors Clio out of the ditch, I recognise some of the parts.

Agreeable to see you back AE.
I have waited in vain for a snappy post or two in the thread on overbearing behaviour by posters here. I am sure I am not alone in missing your very acerbic putdowns. I trust you are still in witty and irascible mode?

You got a new battery in your pacemaker or something Lud?

A.E. Re-reading your amazingly rapid reply I am left wondering if there is a choice. The Full stop after renault, then the Clio 1 98 etc. has confused me slightly. Please confirm.
Very best regards...........Martin.

The light is a nearside "in spoiler" fog light for a Renault. It was used on a pre facelift laguna mk1 (to 95/96?) and a facelifted Mk1 clio (96-99).
The bits of plastic look like under spoiler "chin" from a faclifted clio. Worried by the louvres in the - what looks like - wheel arch liner. Dont recognise that.
I would gamble its a Mk1 facelifted (96-99) clio RT 1.4, possibly even a Mk1 clio williams.

Her indoors from the bedroom window some 30 yds away said small ish hatchback. Williams around here unlikely. I can't think for the life of me ever seeing a clio in that colour. I always associate it with a 19 as we had one in the family.
The thing that puzzles me is this. From the indications in the hedgebank on the right, (They struck this on the offside after rounding a 30 degree left hander.) Whilst searching on the right at the site of the damage the Farmer next door said, "Wrong side Boy", Debris over there." and then we recovered the bits shown, but there is no sign of damage to a blade of grass 'over there', i.e. on the inside of the corner after the apex. It is a puzzle unless he hit something first, but there is no indication of that either.
Keep 'em coming...........VBR................MD

Got him!! 'M' registered Renault Laguna. Off side light and under spoiler stuff etc. Turns out to be the son of a mate. Sorted quietly if they honour their promises.
Thanks for all help....MD

Well sorted, I thought RF would have been more familiar with broken bits of Laguna IYKWIM
