Retrofit extras Golf. - Pugugly {P}

We made a mistake, we should have ordered MrsP's car with the centre armrest, anyone know whether this is available as a retrofit extra ?

Oops. I've no idea whether its available as a retrofit, but your dealership should be open now to answer the question.

But I found on a Mk4 Golf that the centre armrest encouraged me to be lazy, and got in the way of me getting to the handbrake.

This seems to be quite a common upgrade. Have a look in the MkV section here: uk-mkvs.net/forums/Default.aspx .

Thanks Rhubarb total answer. Two useful websites found as a result.

You'll find lots of useful data on all VWs here: www.volkswagen.msk.ru/ . Sift through and look for the Mk V stuff in English.

The centre armrest on my MkIV Bora remains permanently in the upright position - it's a nuisance otherwise..:-)

Mmm yes, just had a look at photos of the one in the MK5, In retrospect I think it would be more trouble than its worth especially with the handbrake (like the latest Focus) set for RHD. Anyway silver lining are the two sites suggested by Rhubarb.

The problem with that retrofit is that the rear air vents are very difficult to fit. From the factory the air con is routed via the centre armrest to the rear. There's no problem fitting the armrest but the vents are a different matter.

Mmm this was mentioned on that forum, it doesn't worry me much as the rear seats are never occupied but I think it's gone into the "too hard to do box" for now.

Also the MKV armrest is totally different and far more ergonomic than the MKIV item that gets in the way of the handbrake.
