Been there, seen it done!

Even better I know the guy who got the job to transport it, he wanted to do it overnight but the police couldn't find an escort and wouldn't allow it so they set off at 7 in the morning just in time to catch the rush hour!!!!!

BTW the plane involved was a redundant BAC 1-11.

No problem HJ, and yes I did post it a couple of hours earlier as "ultimate illegal parking" and was wondering how many tickets it would pick up if it was in London, given that with the tractor and trailer unit it must be about 20 parking bays long!

seems ironic there is a "flyover" in the way

Surely something like that, some one must know who's it is and make them responsible?
If the authorities don't know, then how does the beeb know, and so know where it was going?

I don't suppose India is quite the same, but certainly in large areas of Africa the passers-by can take a very stern view of any form of eccentric behaviour with motor vehicles. Cases of people being lynched after accidents or crashes involving no other vehicles and no serious property damage (except to the victim's own car) are not unknown.

In Northern Tanzania some 25 years ago I took a bus journery which had to be broken at midpoint, as the dirt road crossed a small river on a Bailey bridge which had been wrecked. The bus would stop at one end of the bridge and the passengers had to climb over the wreckage to the other end, where another bus was waiting. For the rich and heavily burdened, a canoe was available to help with the luggage.

The bridge had been wrecked by a bulldozer driver who had ignored advice that his dozer was too heavy for the bridge because the alternative route was 30 miles longer. Following the collapse of the bridge, the driver had been beaten half to death by locals whose lives had been made instantly more difficult thereby.

So the driver of the aircraft transporter may have been doing the sensible thing when he scarpered.
