Silicon grease - Keith Fellows
Does anybody know where I can buy some silicon grease to protect the door seals on my car from freezing up? None of the big car chains such as Halfords seem to stock it. Thanks.

Try Maplins
Re: Silicon grease - Andy
AB is right - electronics stockists are favourite for this kind of stuff. We used to use it in the TV trade.
By the way, I don't want to appear pedantic, but it's silicone not silicon.

Halfords Rubber and Nylon lubricant (aerosol) used to be pretty good. I think it had a fair bit of silicone in it, but wasn't all the greasy (won't rub off on your jacket when you get in!)

Vaseline works pretty well.

But may attack the rubber, as it's oil-based.
Silicone grease - Dave Lacey aka Dr Dave
Careful Andrew, Guy might be about....

MG Rover dealers and MGR Corporate Parts (!!) Wholesalers will sell BAU5812A which is a Dow Corning Silicone grease which is used during routine servicing of MGR cars (Sunroof seal lubrication)

Not cheap at £12+VAT but it works.

Dow Corning make Breast Implants, too.....now there's one for Guy....or should that be two??

Popular with yacht/boat people. Any ship chandler.
Re: Silicone grease - Alan
Its also good for plastic curtain rails.

Hi Keith, you could try some independent 4x4 garages as it's well used for waterproofing distributer caps etc.
