buy it I will.

More importantly - does it work or do you still end up with a smeared screen?
Decosol may be more expensive but it gives a lovely clean screen.
I await verdicts with interest!!

Decosol's the only stuff I use. Pretty much everything else (apart from some German-named stuff I bought in Aldi one time) leaves smearing.

The blue stuff you see everywhere is a bit of a waste of money in my book, Decosol is good, and also, if you can find it 'SONAX' screenwash. This I believe is the same stuff that Porsche dealers use (orange in colour and in a bottle with a squeeze and measure pot). Euro car parts used to sell this.

I've always used Halfords concentrate, but I might try Decosol next time.

Far cheaper to buy concentrated screenwash and mix it up yourself. Last lot I bought cost me something like £2 or £3 from Asda for 5 litres of concentrated screenwash and I can make something like 100 litres of screenwash from it, which is far cheaper than paying £2.99 for 10 litres of ready mixed.

Absolutely agree.
In fact over the recent very mild winter a modest concentration has been more than ample in my case.

Costco do an excellent concentrate, its ideal because its only £3 and i have a BMW so I have 2 screenwash tanks, I fill the concentrated screenwash tank with very strong screenwash solution and the standard one with just the standard dilution.
|
Even with the concentrated, I figured it was mainly water, by using the freezing point and dilution relationships on the back of the bottle it was still clearly something like 2/3rds water. So I bought a retail box of Clearalex sachets of powder, and add my own ethanol which I bought from a chemical supplier. I use just the powder in summer and add appropriate alcohol in winter, didn't use much this winter, but if you have a cold snap, you can just add the alcohol neat to your already weak solution.

We purchased ethanol in bulk at work for test purposes and needed a licence. Wouldn't that also apply to an individual wishing to make a purchase?

Where do you get the ethanol from?, I've been trying for ages to find a supplier...

I didn't know that - is that common on all BMW's? How do you select which tank to use?
