to much to fix - put it in auction - adam f
a friend of mine took his GREEN 1.6 RENAULT MEGANE COUPE W REG WITH 45K to his mechanic as it was making a noise and has been told the camshaft has gone and it is going to cost around £800 to fix. He cant eally afford to pay for the work and is deciding what to do. i suggested putting it into an auction. i know its dishonest but maybe he might get a half decent price for it.
Could you answer some questions for me.
what is the commission price/percentage at auction?
what price do you roughly think he can get?
will he have to declare its faults or are cars sold as seen bassis.

Hi there, at my local auction, if you put a car in you do not have to tell them a thing about the car. The car will be sold as seen with no come-backs on you at all. Hope this helps, cheers, graham.

Different auctions have different conditions but cheaper stuff is usually all sold as seen. To be honest this car will fetch buttons at auction.

I'd be surprised if he got more than £1500 for it and maybe he'd be lucky to get that. It'll end up in the bottom of the barrel type auction half full of rubbish which is there for exactly the same reason your friend is selling his car so nobody sensible pays proper money.
