Renault scenic new tyres - egor
I need toget new tyres for the scenic, can anyone recommend any?
The tyre sizes are 185/65 + 195/60 the car is used for short commuting journeys in the week and maybe 200-300 mile motorway trips at the weekends from april till oct but proberly only does about 10,000 miles a year if that.

I always put a good quality mid-range tyre on my car - not the rubbish that sells for £20 a corner, but the mainstream manufacturer's second-line brands. Go down to your local independant tyre place, and ask what mid-range tyres they have. 10,000 miles a year isn't a lot, so it's not the end of the world if the tyres only last 2 years. Something like Hankook or Kumho would be alright, and some Firestone are quite well-priced too. Stunner tyres are also quite a common choice (made by Pirelli).

If its a scenic 1 or scenic 1 facelift, they suffer from road noise. Would be inclined to go for one of the quieter tyres.

Oh and they understeer in the wet quite badly so would go for a good wet grip tyre.

Steer clear of Avon (scuse the pun) - they're the noisiest tyres I've had, and the compound is very hard too. If road noise and wet handling do concern you, try a set of Toyo CF-1's....very good in the wet, and quiet too (won't break the bank either!).

Would endorse the steer clear of Avon message...experience of their wet weather grip in a Scenic and Volvo has been very poor.

Are these 14" or 15" wheels?

I've used Hankook K406s on my last two cars - Peugeot 406 HDi 195/65/15 H and Peugeot 306 TD 185/60/14 H. They're an excellent mid-price tyre with good handling, ride, noise and wear - perhaps not outstanding in any category but leagues ahead of budget tyres and still very well priced.
