My apologies if this topic has already been discussed and I've missed it........ There are ads advising drivers who have had an accident that wasn't their fault to go to them,( 'No win/no fee' type solicitors) to get everything sorted out. They shout out that you would not be out-of-pocket, and would keep your no-claims bonus. How does this stand against every insurance policy I've ever had having a clause insisting on disclosure about any accident? Surely if this accident is not revealed to your insurer they can void the policy?

You can (and should) report any accident to your insurer. You don't have to make a claim though. It is quite easy to claim from the other driver/insurer if you can prove they were solely at fault - in fact you have to if you only have third party insurance. Many (most?) solicitors will take cases like this on without the downsides of using the ambulance-chasing no-win-no-fee brigade.

You will keep your NCB percentage, but notification of an incident may give the insurer a heads up on some new risk, for example where the car is being kept during the day. This may then lead to an adjustment in the underlying premium.

Just after I was knocked off my bike I was walking through Rochdale town centre with my arm bandaged up and feeling very sorry for myself. A woman stopped me and asked if it was non-fault accident, and I spun her a story about how I nearly lost my arm rescuing a child from a crashed plane. Spent about 5 minutes yammering on heroically until she started to get suspicious at how I turned and dove back into the flames to rescue the kid's teddy bear.

I was walking through St Helens a few years ago (when I was in Sixth Form) and got approached by one of these people. (The one that collapsed and fired people by text).
The conversation went exactly like this (I wish I were making it up)
The Accident Group Bloke - "Hello sir - had an accident in the last 5 years?"
Me (Still walking) - "Nope - I've been pretty lucky"
TAGB - "What line of work are you in?"
Me (Still walking - a bit quicker) " I'm in Sixth Form"
TAGB - "Sports - what sports do you play?"
Me - "Football, rugb...."
TAGB - "RUGBY! AHA! Ever got hurt playing rugby at school?"
Me - "No - I'm pretty fast when I've got the ball" (I'm not really - I've been hurt loads of times!)
TAGB (With a hurt look on his face) - "So you mean...you've not had any accidents at all?"
Me - "Nope - see you."
Seriously - it was that intense. He followed me down the entire length of the High Street to try and ge ta claim. Who would we sue? The school?!?!?
This blame/claim compensation culture makes me sick.

I know. I'm sueing the guy that knocked me off and it's taking AAAGGGEEEES. Been dragging on for a year and a half now, but finally getting progress. The medical report is nearing completion after a laughable hoo-haa of lost x-rays and hospital notes.

Adam,
What you should have said was that you once walked into a lamp post when distrscted by a NWNF salesperson and you want to sue him.

If I'd have been on the ball, I would have done!
