hey ppl,
ive bought a new in car dvd player and had to get the wires for it converted to uk style and i have Interference like mad i have got subs,amps,6x9s etc and i have the exact same system as my friends and they have an american cd player too, the only thing thats different from both our systems is on the wires for our headunit theres has a small black box with a magnet inside can anybody please help?

The interference could coming anywhere from the car,a continous high pitched crackle is normally from the alternator, intermittant from the ignition side.You need a surpressor kit for your type of car plus you have to make sure everthing is earthed and the correct screen cables are used.With all the tackle in you have in the car it would have been better getting a professionel auto sparks to check it out.

and i believe you are referring to the ferrite core, not a magnet.
Doesnt that help reduce interference?
although i do agree that it was prob best to get a pro to do it, you may have used the wrong cable (unshielded)
not that that really helps you now though!

I suspect the head unit has no clean earth, but it sounds like you need ot have it checked by a pro.
I would always wire up exotic stuff like this directly to a dedicated fused feed to the battery.

Usually is,by pro`s even earth feed,missed by some in instructions on DIY
