Emergency MOT certificates - jayboy
Hi

I recently had my MOT done amidst all the problems with the MOT Central Computer. When I went to collect the car I was given a pink emergency MOT certificate and told I could come and pick up the proper MOT certificate a few weeks later.

I called the garage today to enquire into when I could come and pick it up, and was told that I didn't need to so not to bother.

It almost seems like they are trying to get rid of me (as I imagine they have alot of customers wanting their proper MOT certificates). So do I need the proper MOT certificate, and should I demand I get one, or should I be OK wihtout it and just leave it?

Thanks

Do you trust a Government computer project not to have a hitch and obliterate details of a number of cars with MOT certificates?
If so, don't bother with a paper one. When it happens and you are fined for driving with no MOT becasue you cannot prove you have one, remember this conversation.

ANYONE who trusts governments to do anything right and relies 100% on them is 1. very naive 2. does not live in the real world and 3. is due for a series of big disappointments...

The rest of us get paper copies...:-)

According to this link the only drawback is that you won't be able to tax your vehicle on line.

By now your garage shoould have confirmed all its emergency tests and produced certificates as that problem has now been closed. Go and ask them for the certificate again or ring VOSA.
