Peugeot 405 Turbo Diesel heater control - TedM
There is a clicking from under the far passenger side facia when the ignition is turned on. This stops if fuse No. 5 is removed on my Turbo Diesel 405 Executive. How do I gain access to this unit and what is the Part No of the motor I need to replace.

Hi

Thats the outside air flap servo motor.

They are £85 new from Peugeot!

This is a scrapyard job, Search out the 405s, 406s, Citroen Xantias & even Range Rovers.

There are a lot of different motors all using the same housing but the insides are different.

You need brown plug with 3 wires.

Hi

That's the outside air flap servo motor.

They are £85 new from Peugeot!

This is a scrapyard job, Search out the 405s, 406s, Citroen Xantias, Basically anything in the PSA family with aircon & even check out the Range Rovers.

There are a lot of different motors all using the same housing but the insides are different.

You need brown plug with 3 wires.

To replace the motor.

Empty the glovebox, Then shut it, At the bottom of the glovebox door you will see 2 x black plastic dowles, Slide these out using a screwdriver & remove the whole glovebox door.

Now unclip the 2 metal spring clips that hold the carpet trim under the glovebox area, Don't ruin the clips because Peugeot no longer supply them!

Now you need to carefully drill out the rivets holding the glovebox surround to the dash, 3 along the top, 1 down each side & 2 at the bottom. These are called PEEL rivets, The backs peel over & break in to 4 little legs that grip the 2 parts of the dash together.

When the dash surround is free, unclip the wiring loom from the white plastic rivet & then you can get at the flap motor.

2 x cross head screws need to be undone that hold the motor & then it just comes free.

Make sure you have a good look at the linkage before removing the motor so you can get it correct when you put it back together.

Get a helper to hold the air intake flap in position to aid reassembly, Just remove the black plastic ECU / pollen filter cover & then remove the pollen filter too, Make sure the ignition key is turned OFF when you are fiddling with the heater, It RUNS whenever the ignition is ON even if the heater is set to OFF! Don't wont no damaged fingers.

You should use some of those spring clips, Like speaker spring clips but bigger & some countersunk screws to fix the dash back together.

A 406 is far easier to do, Peugeot learned from the mistakes of using rivets on the dash & went to screws & clips.
