i balance my own with a good ole bubble balancer,it never wants servicing like the tyre bay ones do but just a quick wipe of the magic eye bubble once a year :)
As said take it back and they will check it for you, its a good idea anyway as new tyres do go faulty which is why they should be run in to dry them out.
You may just have a faulty tyre.

If the wheels are alloy make sure they fit the correct type/shape of weight. In general, weights intended for steel wheels aren't suitable for alloys and can quickly fall off. For alloys I always specify self-adhesive weights fitted on the inside of the wheel, i.e. so they're not visible. Fortunately, because of the shape, it's impossible to fit weights to the edge of the rim of the alloys of my 03/03 Focus.

There is a profound difference between static and dynamic balance. A spirit level balancer will not correct dynamic imbalance.
Imagine a wheel as a perfect solid disk. Balanced, because it's perfect. Now add weight to one side on one face (say the outer face). Out of balance. Now add the same value of weight across a diameter on the same face. Balanced, and would pass the spirit level test.
Now transfer the second weight to the opposite face of the wheel (say the inside) at the same point on the circumference. This would still pass the spirit level test (statically balanced) but would wobble when revolved due to the forces acting as a couple across the thickness of the wheel. Dynamically unbalanced.
This explains why you need weights on both the inside and the outside rim of a wheel to achieve good static and dynamic balance. Most tyre shop errors are either due to inattention of the operator or a failure to correctly centre the wheel on the machine.

659, excuse the explanation for the benefit of the uninitiated ~ in this context a couple is a twisting effect.

At the risk of displaying my ignorance, what's a bubble balancer?

Essentially a spike on which the wheel is rested, horizontally at its centre. If the wheel is statically out of balance, it won't rest absolutely level until weight is added to the light side.

it might be a dinasour in technical terms but its worked on everything ive run for 20 years perfectly including commercials if they arent too heavy, the only wheels its not keen on are mk2 golf steels.

Some suspension systems are more tolerant to dynamic imbalance than others. Perhaps you have been fortunate enough to have systems that were very tolerant.
