Quite why the almost brand new dual carriageway A43 needs roadworks I don't know but they are there from now until end of March at the earliest and it is a mess.
Southbound you must exit by the Silverstone exit at the latest and plot a route that take you to where the A43 meet the M1 at 15a.
Northbound you need to plan a route from 15a joining the A43 at the top end of Towcester.
You have been warned.

I saw them putting out signs on the M40 just up from J9 this morning saying - roadworks here from tomorrow for 30 odd weeks.
That together with the A43 and A34 is becoming irritating.

Add in the A40 Oxford northern bypass....42 weeks to resurface one carriageway.

According to the Highways Agency they are replacing the concrete surface at Towcester.

Opened circ 1990, so not as new as it seems. Replacing concrete with new low noise surface between Tiffield and Abthorpe road roundabout. Local residents duly grateful.
Incidentally I think the OP may have north and south switched.

Mr. B,
You are quite right got my north and south the wrong way round.
The shock of Saints winning a match must have turned my head 180 degrees.
Open 15 years? You got to be kidding me? How time flies...

I was out by a year!!
Some photos here www.blisworth.org.uk/images/Bypass%20History.htm need to scroll down the page a bit to find them.

Oh joy. I've got some work in Milton Keynes shortly. Commuting from Bath won't be much fun with this going on.

Should be able to avoid it. After Oxford route Bicester, Buckingham then A421 or A422.

Or use the A43 as far as Croughton and turn right just after the USAF radio place directly onto the A421. In fact to go as far north as where these works are (between Towcester and the M1)will take you out of your way.
