Pimp My Ride UK - redviper
anyone watched this?

if they do these cars up, do they just do the exterior, and not any mechanical or electrics on the car, becasue if not what would be the point on doing up a car on the exterior only ..... becasue no doubt the mechanics of the car wont be very good either, i never see them do anything majorly mechanical (unless i have missed a bit)

the ones that i watched, in particular the Morris Minor, it just sounded as rough as before.

If you are going to "Restore" and I use the term Restore very losely, then you may as well do everything.

I've watched a few episodes and, though i have seen them "pimp" the exterior and interior of the cars, i have never seen anybody actually tweak anything mechanical (engine, suspension, gearbox etc). All they seem to do is respray the car, fit it with spoilers galore and then weigh it down with kilo upon kilo of useless items (i mean, come on, who really needs a full sized mixing deck and laptop in their boot?).

End result: the car can look brilliant (or sometimes plain tacky), but its' performance has probably been drastically reduced.

I've watched bits of a couple of US episodes and my impression was that they did sometimes necessarily do something about clapped mechanicals, but the emphasis very heavily on pimping rather than ride, with much screaming by the (nearly always young female) owner. Synthetic stuff, pretty well carp through and through.

They don?t touch mechanicals, Tim Westlife said so himself when he featured on Channel Five?s "The Right Stuff" a couple of weeks ago.

... i thought as much.... tbh honest There is not much point in doing up the exterior if your not going to touch the mechanics of the car, its stoopid
