Car Insurance Question - PhilDS
As you may see from another thread, I am on the cusp of buying a car. In fact it is the first car either my girlfriend or myself will have insured ourselves for 2.5 years as we both have company cars (she loses hers at the end of Feb hence the purchase). As a result neither of us have official no claims (although we did have prior to getting company cars).
What proof will most insurance companies want to see of a clean driving slate? We can provide details of our last private cover and should be able to get letters from our companies stating a clean driving history.
I appreciate calls to insurance companies will get us an answer, I just wanted to hear from any of you who may have come across this before and are there any particular companies out there who are good at insuring drivers like ourselves?

Been there done that. Ask your companies Insurance Companies to confirm your lack of claim in writing. Failing that keep details of insuring company and policy number (on yr cover note) so you can give to other insurers who can check directly with company's insurer.

Most insurers I asked for quotes (Direct Line etc) were very good - no problems at all.

Car Insurance Question - martint123
When I went 'private' Direct Line wanted two statements from either the leasing company or my bosses.
(1) No accidents or claims in the last xxx years.
(2) That I no longer had use of a company vehicle.

I went to max no claims with no problem.
