The car has developed a wobble which is most noticeable at slow speeds. Appears to be in sync with wheel rotation, but alloy wheels are not damaged. Where do I start looking?

Check that any of your tyres haven't gone "out of round" i.e. out of shape where the ply has started to separate.
Jack up each corner of the car in turn and support - then spin the wheel to see if the tyres are running truly or not.
|
One of the wheel may have shed a balance weight.
|
Meant to add, with alloy wheels the weights may be stuck on the inside, look for a cleaner patch amid the brake dust. They may have been fixed to the rim, look for a clean bit.
|
Normally if a wheel loses a weight then it's only noticable at higher speeds. Tyler's problem is at slow speeds.
Perhaps Tyler could clarify at what speed his wobble tends to happen?
|
Wheel wobble is at low speed from walking pace upwards. I've checked tyres by jacking up all wheels. There is no noise from drive diffs either.

Many steel wheels have weights on the inside as well;it's to get dynamic balance, not just static.

check for a bulge in the sidewall, you may have a carbunkle(split sidewall)

i agree with - Dynamic Dave and steve,o be carefull as the cords can rip your hand as you spin the tyre,do not go out in the car till you have checked them all as the tyre could explode and cause you to have an accident

sounds like tread out of line with tyre over small area, this forces the car to wobble.
