this from the DVLA:
"The insurance must be valid when the licence comes into force and indicate that it covers the use of the vehicle by the licence applicant. If the cover is unclear you may be asked to provide written confirmation."
If a married couple have a car registered in the wifes name and the policy is in the husbands name as main driver (because he has the NCB and wife has none) and wife is a named driver on the policy......everything will be ok, yes?
Thankyou

Providing the car insurance relates to the vehicle in question I can't see any problem.
Having a vehicle registered in one name and another named as the main driver is not unusual.

I have had this problem with some insurance companies before. I was the registered KEEPER of a vehicle. I gave the car to my daughter who became the owner, albeit not the registered keeper.
The car stayed at the same address, I wanted to keep the number of owners to a minimum for resale later. A couple of companies refused to insure her on the grounds that she was not the registered keeper.
I tried to argue the point that registered keeper is not the same as the actual owner of the vehicle, but no go.

Is the registered keeper always going to be the "licence applicant"?
|
Registered keeper, actual owner, and licence applicant don't have to be actual individuals anyway - frequently all are companies, and the person going to the post office is just an employee.

Precisely why I use a broker. All these fiddly issues are dealt with by thebroker who has to date never not been able to offer me exactly what I want.
Parents, wife and myself have a car each. I drive the car registered to my wife and vice versa. Also insured to drive parents cars and vice versa.
The onl;y thing they cannot do is give us a block policy as the cars are owned individually and not by a single party, in which case, a fleet policy for up to six drivers would be cheaper.
