How can I find out about my licence renewal with the DVLA?

I am 77 and renewing my driving licence. I no longer need C1 or D1 as I have sold my motorhome. The licence app has been with DVLA since 25 Oct. Phoning is useless as they said it is with medical - why and there is no phone transfer to the medical department. How do I find out what is going on, my licence expired on 3 Jan?

You can continue to drive, even if you have not had your licence returned to you or it has expired, under Section 88 of the Road Traffic Act as long as you meet all the criteria listed here - assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/64edcf3a13a...f If you applied for the renewal online you can track the status of the application via the DVLA website here - www.gov.uk/track-your-driving-licence-application However if you applied by post the DVLA Medical Enquiries phone number is 0300 7906806.
