Can anybody help me? I have bought a repair kit from Webcon for my Pierburg 2E3 which was gutless and not idling but before you say anything its not about that.
In the kit there are lots of gaskets, rubber o rings and also 2 diaphrams. Does anybody know what parts to use for the 2E3 and how they are installed as it is a multi carb repair kit with extra parts in the box and i dont really want to take parts off only to find that i should not have.
Any info appreciated
Thanks

It is best to fit your repair kit as part of a full strip down and clean out, rather than aiming to do the least possible dismantling. Blow every passage way and jet out with plenty of carb cleaner, making sure that the liquid emerges where it should rather than being stopped by a blockage.
There should be a diaphragm for the accelerator pump, which is square (ish) with four screw holes and a central metal boss. When you change this, make sure that the pump lever is free to move. These commonly siezed up when servicing was poorly done and the pivot not lubricated, and can contribute to a gutless response. Also, people tend to misadjust the pump lever and cam, causing the accelerator pump not to pump much fuel.
There should be a sandwich plate with two diaphragms, one on each side, and two screw holes through the two diaphragms and the alloy block in the middle. This is the economy valve. Make sure that the drilling in the central alloy block goes all the way through - I have seen a badly drilled batch of them that didn't - again this can lead to poor performance if it sticks while weakening, or poor economy if while richening.
Other than that, there is very little to replace - the large upper gasket, the lower gaskets between carb and manifold. Make sure that you flush out the idling circuit thoroughly with carb cleaner - it sounds like there is a blocked jet in there.
Make sure that all of the inlet manifold drillings are free, and that vacuum pipes are in good condition and connected properly.
If you want to fix your fault, be bold, and strip the thing down properly!
Are you sure that the ignition system is tip-top? If the heat shields are missing from the ends of the plug leads, then the plug leads don't last long in the heat from the exhaust manifold! Having said that, the heat shields themselves have been known to cause the odd rough running problem!

Thanks NC... Sorry I did not make it very clear did I. The carb is in bits !!!! But the point I was making was not taking components apart like the secoundry throttle diaphragm only to find there were no parts in the kit. Also in the kit is a pair of pointed metal objects about 20 X 4 mm ??, so all the other o rings and gaskets I guess are not required.
Thanks
