It says that you have to register but it's free (I think!)

Sorry! Courtesy of the cut and paste facility, here you go:

Having just looked at the T's & C's of the above mentioned site, I've had to remove the wording copied and pasted here as they specify that any content is not to be displayed on a public bulletin board, etc, without prior written permission.
I suggest if you wish to read it, then you'll need to register an account with them.

No plug. Got info from the news section of the Post Magazine website. It is a site for insurance people.

Just a little word of caution - I genuinely don't know the answer to this, but I'm concerned at the fact that the 'scrapped' tag is used rather than 'written off.'
The scrapped tag on the V5 is used for vehicles that have been dismantled, not as salvage, and whilst a few vehicles may well have been restored after partial dismantling, there are far more repaired write offs that won't be picked up by this.
It seems (though I could be wrong) that they are just using DVLA data and whilst this is nice, it may not be much more than you could glean from a glance at the V5 and tells you little or nothing about a car's true hidden history.

Sorry, didn't mean to cause aggro.
