Restoring Dull Paintwork? - audi80tdi
Hi all,

I have an Audi 80 1994 M reg. Its in a dark metallic graphite black kinda colour!!:) (dont know how to describe it exactly!)

The problem is all the car has got nice shiny paintwork bar one side!!! The drivers side. Both doors and the wing are dull anf flat, The colour has not faded but there is no shine on the paintwork. Im assuming this side may have been resprayed at some time???
Is it possible to bring shine into this side of the car to match the rest of it?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

T-Cut for metallic paint.

There loads of T-cut waxes etc on the market.
Do i get the T-cut original or do i get the t-cut colour restorer with the bottle colour matching the colour of the paintwork?

I've used T-cut original on metallic paint with no problems, but they do a version especially for metallic paint. I'd try that.

I didn't know they did versions for every colour, that must be quite a range. Some of their variants are in red bottles, others in green - are you sure you aren't reading too much into the bottle colour? Regular T-cut is nothing more than a thin cutting paste - it isn't colour-specific.

You'll probably be correct in thinking it's had paint repairs.

Take care if you use GENUINE T Cut, as it contains amonia & will actually destroy your paint finish, quite easily.I hate the stuff, it makes me physically sick, to use.

Most of the lighter polishing liquds/compounds will do the same job, but don't expect miricales.

& you will need to re wax it, after, don't forget.

If you use MER polish, that will wax & remove some discolouration, anyway.

I personally prefer to use Farecla as a cutting compound as it comes in a number of different grades.
