Tsunami Appeal Donations - Dwight Van Driver
Many of the Backroomers will be out and about in various hostelries over the next few days and imbibing the spirit of good will. Be aware that there are those who may be active amongst you wanting to make capital on a tragedy.

Anyone thrusting a bucket under your nose should have authorisation to collect so try and make sure any cash donated
goes direct to the appeal and not to a scoats pocket.

I made mine at local Red Cross Charity Shop. Receipt given.

In addition to DVD's post, I have found the following news article, warning of people to be on their guard over where the money goes.

E mail scams, bogus internet sites etc are all the rage at the moment.

It seems that some people will stop at nothing to make a few quid.

Personally I would just use one of the recommended channels. The money still ends up in the same place no matter which legitimate charity you sent it to, so don't be too concerned about not giving to a 'charity' you're not 110% sure of. There are plenty of charities out there that we all know and trust.

It means that for every quid you give, Gordon Brown has to take another 28p of our money out if his back pocket and give that as well
