My sister-in-law has just purchased a two year old Matiz, but has been told by the local agent that the 3 year free servicing and warranty offer only applies to the first owner. Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Silly question, but what does the small print say in the warranty book?
|
Unfortunately. she didn't get either the warranty book or the service record, which is why the question was posed.

Phone another Daewoo dealer and see what they say. I would have thought that as she also didn't get a record of previous services, there is no proof the vehicle was serviced as per the warranty terms and conditions, hence any remaining warratny could be deemed void.
Was the car privately bought, or frfom a dealer? Either way, why didn't the garage/previous owner let your sister have the relevasnt documents?

Hi, Caveman. Car was bought from non-Daewoo showroom. Dealer claimed he hadn't received warranty and service records with car, but would try to obtain same. GMDaewoo are checking warranty and sevice entitlement and have promised to get back in contact with her, but we have obtained copies of service invoices from Daewoo dealership who serviced car previously, and found that these services had been paid for, so don't hold out much hope for any free servicing. Am trying to contact previous owner for history, unsuccessfully, as yet. I suspect car was, originally, an Arnold Clark hire car.

Matiz has always had a 3 year transferrable warranty. (Unless an import). Same, I believe, for the AA cover.
Servicing was for first owner only, not transferrable. This changed after GM took over, some time between late 2002 and mid 2003, so that servicing is now transferable.
Of course, this depends on having the correct paperwork!
It has been suggeted by certain reprehensible people that if you have an older Matiz and take it into the garage, you do not mention that you are not the original owner and they will then do the work without charging...

I should make it clear that the transferable servicing is not retrospective, so only cars bought in the last year or so qualify..
