A6 1996 2.8 V6 108,000. Timing belt changed at 65,000
Noticeable rattle of the type you might associate with an exhaust, fades before the engine is fully even within a mile or two. Just been MOT'd where they sealed the exhaust.
Any thoughts?

Do you mean the Exhaust had been repaired/filled to correct a leak.If so it could be the filler has worked loose,Just a thought.Apart from that may be the cat/heat plate vibrating.As I said just a thought.?

Close but no cigar mech 1, the whole "flippin" cat has gone...just thought I'd post so anyone else might have the chance to prepare themselves mentally for the kick in the wallet that follows

Thanks for that FD - I paid a bill of £850 two weeks ago on this heap of junk so facing another for £500 this week doesn't make me feel too special.

If the car is costing too much you must weigh in whether or not its worth hanging onto even if its newish as it will bust your bank in the long run.
