I think HJ spoke recently of clearing out some of the oldest Back Room contributions, assuming not unreasonably that they would be of no interest to anyone. I bet they would be of interest and I would like to suggest that they be archived as downloadable text files. Even better, the technical ones could be organised by make of car, although that would be icing on the cake, as they would be easily searchable.

Just to put your mind at rest the decision to clear out some of the older threads has been axed. The full archive will remain for the forseeable future.
Interesting suggestion about the Technical forum, however there are two big obstacles:
1) It would have to be done manualy due to the enormous variation in the way people describe their vehicle and I think I speak for Mark and Dave as well as myself when I say \"No Way!!!!\".
2) The Forum Search function will do much the same job and already exists. Just limit your search to the tech forum and put the make or model in as a keyword and Bob\'s your mother\'s brother, subject to the variations mentioned in 1).

If people put the make and model, and problem catergory in the subject, instead of just things like "Help me quick, my parents are due back!" then the forum would be much more accurate.

Can't speak for my moderator colleagues, but when I get the time I do edit the subject headers in Tech Matters to include the car, and the problem.
Trying to convince certain people to do it when they post a new thread is another matter though.
