Got my car back - barney100

Got my car back after three months at repairers following 'no fault' collision damage...£5k or so to fix. Three months of hire cars but mine looks very good now. I have no claims protection but reckon my premiums will rise. Tip.... if you are hit by another vehicle...take pictures of ALL of your car not just the new damage so any later disputes can be resolved more easily.

They will still dispute it, like they did with my Astra. Pictures before they had the car shows no damage to front wing, Pictures afterwards shows paint damage. They blamed the damage not being visible in the first photo on sun light. Strangly the damage to the paint looks just like someone rested a sharp edged replacement body panel against the car while it was being worked on. You know like the new rear panel that they welded into my Astra.

This is the damage that they did and then said it was not visible in the first photo due to the sun during the photo.

The new damage was repaired. I got 'the benefit of the doubt'

Looking at the photo-the damage appears only moderate. Did it really cost £5k to make good.Any idea how this cost was broken down?

Didn't get a breakdown but needed, bonnet, wing, front grille, headlight, power steering parts, paint and labour. That's what I know about so I suppose the biggest cost would be labour. The damage was 67.5% but this means little to me.

Forgot, some mention of door frames but no details.

It sounds like a good £deal-well done. I suspect many insurers could well have gone for a write off instead of a £5k+ repair bill?...how old was the car?
