Female friend rented a Hyundai i20 for a few days and we met up with her yesterday. We parked near each other, spent several hours in a restaurant and at the beach (we are currently overseas) and returned to the cars.

Key goes in the barrel but will not turn. She is not stupid so tries unlocking the steering lock, but clearly that is not locked. She tries shifting the gear selector (its an auto) back and forth - no problem out of Park all the way to D and 2 etc etc. Everything works. Takes the key out and puts it in several times - no effect. Gets out of the car, locks it, gets back in - no effect. I try all the same things. Nothing works, key will not turn. Then we notice the central display is lit up...strange?? So ring the rental compand after only a few minutes they say they will replace the car - we will be with you within three hours.

So after two and half hours the delivery man rings - I am ten minutes away so we rush back to the car from the centre of the town and the display is still lit up. I say 'give it another go'.. Well blow me down - the b****r works perfectly. Don't tell the driver, we exhibit complete surprise when he can start the car and he says he will eave us with the new one anyway 'just in case' - Good Man.

Just wierd....
