Peugeot 206 SW - Themostat goes into the red and stop sign flashes - kitchenfitter

My 206 temperature gauge sho ts into the red in seconds and stop sign flashes, the car does not over heat, I have changed the themostat and snesor, fan operates as it should - there is no loss of water and internal heater works fine. If you stop turn engine off for a minute and the restart its all back to normal

Any ideas would be a grea thelp

Have you checked the wiring to the sensor? And is your battery and earth points OK? A slight dip in voltage will cause false sensor warnings.
