Rover 25 year 2000 1.4 - smell from engine when started in the morning. - Delysher

Whjen I first start car in morning and engine is warming up on my drive way for five minutes I noticed after about 5 minutes an unusual smell that was not there in April 2015.

It hard to explain what the smell might be. It seems as if it has faded away when the car is driven throughout the day.

  • Smell like plastic, rubber smell, or electrical smoulder

Repairs recently undertaken.

  • New cat exhaust mid May 2015
  • New plasitic thermoste housing that is behind the water pump. The Manifold was removed to fit thermoste

Any ideas please

didn't you already post this problem?...and I believe someone suggested it could be the clutch or new cat...

Might have been better to reply than start a new thread?

did you have the clutch or cat checked?

Yes, cat could be the problem. Neighbour's tom might have taken to spraying during the night.

Sorry - look for trapped wiring where the work has been done. So easy to trap a wire or cable when bolting back together.
