Case 1.

Friend in Acton rolled very gently into 17 tonner at lights when handbrake failed. no damage to either but driver insisted on exchange of details. 3 months later claim for whiplash, but case thrown out as truck fitted iwth tracking/analytics and no proof of impact.

2

ex neighbour in wales rolled back into a rover 25 that was stopped behind driver insisted she paid £500 for repairs immediately, so on my advice she informed her insurance company because in my opinion (i saw it) the damage to the car was already there as it was rusting,

The rover was in such poor condition that it would not have gone for more than 99p on ebay. there was not 1 panel that was untouched. Driver is now claiming for whiplash and it should be fun as both are insured with a major supermarkets insurance arm (every little?)

Friend of mine was recently driving his family about:

car in front of the car in front was weaving about on the road.

car in front stopped suddenly.

car in front of the car in front sped off like they'd stole it.

3 "asians" got out of the car in front rubbing their necks.

within 24hrs there were doctors reports submitted in support of claims for 5 grand apiece.

my friends insurance company engaged the services of an ex-police investigator.

the claims have been refused.

nothing more has been heard of the claimants except that the Police have now arrested them and taken statements from my friend and family.

my friend runs a small roofing company. all vehicles now equiped with dash cams

I have also fitted my smartphone with a massive 32 gig card and have set the voice recorder to use the card in preference to the nternal memory and can set it recording with just two presses. I also use my old Galaxy S2 and DailyRoads Voyager as a dashcam until I can afford a dedicated machine.

Some of our "communities" here in the north were pioneers of this exciting new industry. Consequently our buses were early adopters of the dash cam. Now even the bovine insurers have twigged. One wonders if, behind the scenes, investigators initiate their enquiries when certain surnames appear on the claim form.

Dash cams from Maplin maybe? But then you've got to fit it. Maybe a local indpendent mobile sparks could supply and fit. happy days.
